Alan Schmedje, BScOptom. PGCertOcTher. studied optometry at the University of Melbourne and graduated in 1991. Having completed his schooling at Waaia Primary School and Numurkah Secondary College, he returned to Shepparton to start his career with Young and Norden Optometrists which he purchased soon after, renaming it Shepparton Optical Services. Alan has since completed two courses in ocular therapeutics which enables him to prescribe ocular medications for the treatment of many ocular conditions including anterior uveitis, conjunctivitis, glaucoma and red eye. To maintain clinical knowledge Alan completes up to 20 hours of further education each year.

Kara Mitchell, BOptom also completed her Optometry degree at the University of Melbourne and after working a couple of years in Swan Hill moved home to Shepparton to join Shepparton Optical in May 2000. Kara also undertakes at least 20 hours of continuing education each year and in February 2015 will complete her course in Ocular Therapeutics.
