Optical Consultations

Our Optical Consultations are Bulk Billed directly to Medicare.

There is no out of pocket expense to you.

An Optical Consultation or Check-Up is used to assess your current vision and to look for signs/risk factors of the 4 main causes of vision loss:

• Cataract, Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy and Glaucoma.

Early identification of these conditions is crucial to preventing
permanent vision loss in the future.

Medical Consultations

Medical Consultations refer to those visits where:

• a known ocular condition is monitored and reviewed.
• Signs and symptoms of an ocular disease process are identified and further investigation is required.
• A report or referral is written to a Third Party (Specialist or GP for example.)
• The cause of the visit are acute signs and symptoms.

Medical Consultations take more time, use more resources and are more expensive to provide than Optical Consultations. To offset these costs a surcharge is Payable. This will appear on accounts as Med. Cons. This Surcharge is $25 as at 26/05/17.

There is no rebate for these Surcharges.
